don't forget the 47c / lt going to the Road Accident fund -is this fund still bankcrupt

The basic price of fuel is about R6.50 / liter. Somewhere , someone is getting a fat share, and most people on the street is non-the-wiser.

Even PnP is now driving on Biodiesel. Hopefully, all these people converting to BD, will put less pressure on the oil, thus lowering the price - if in fact the price of oil is set by supply and demand - which IMHO, is not.

I heard on the news this morning a confirmation that 2010 worldcup will still be held in S.A. so I believe the hikes and extra cash earnt has something to do with that.
I have nothing against hosting world events, but I fel instead of showing off, first concentrate on putting food in peoples bellies, making SA a safer place for all, you know what happened the other day;
a bunch of bank robbers making their gettaway was hijaced and robbed of all their, loot guns and vehicles. As for the RAF(not the boys who saved London) I would gladly contribute that on my petrol bill towards the upgrading of our law and justice systems, If there was any law left in GP then there would be less accidents and 3rd party claims and less tax money dissapearing.... Anyway it's nice being an armchair politician fixeing the worlds problems, And I still believe that the taxi industry gets inscentives in one form or the other,(best kept secret in SA) that's why they race from to robot and don't complain like the rest of us who have drive our Hiluxes to the optimum fuel efficiency.
And what about all the oil reserves in the gulf of Mexico, Russia and many other non arab states, and the natural gas and coal we have in SA, As calculated in the enginering news, and taking into consideration population growth, there is still enough for far over 100 years worth of taking, by the time it's finnished we will drive electric or neuclear powered or some other means of propulsion Toyotas and they will be even better..........

Correction on the bio-diesel being dirty, It's SA's diesel in General and it's not the way it gets refined but what happens from the time it goes from the refinery to the petrol staion, They are neglegent allows water and other contaminants to get inside, poor storage facilities, transport and so on causes the problem"the I don't care for regulations attitude "as long as I make a quick buck.
Now this is not a problem in your old diesel bakkie or listir pomp, But when you use it in the high performance turbo diesel engines of today it causes excessive injector wear and turbo wear and a host of other problems, and usually the service departments ends up replacing the engin or at least of it because they do not know the intricate tollerances and adjustment of the fancy diesels.
My bother had to have to have his defenders engin replaced under guarantee after 5000.00 KM they could not fix it, Another friend of mine had his injectors replaced on the D4D after about 20000KM
The article has been in many technical magazines about SA's dirty diesel, and they dilute the diesel with other liquids to give more volume get more bucks out of it.
That is why we petrol heads skipts meals just to put petrol in our tanks, but at least we get the reliability for which we purchased a toyota in the first place.
I think we should convert parafine, or we could go totally un-green and hunt whales for their fatty-oil, it was done in the 2nd word war

$97 / barrel....

I heard rumors it might hit $66 / barrel - a bit hopeful I think.
OPEC when it was still about $140 / barrel said $75 / barrel is the correct price - this is more realistic . Still a rippoff as In Kuwait it costs them about $17 / barrel to break even, but what can you do - go green, BIODIESEL

Anybody have a steady supply of used vegetable oil? I still want to go BD in the future.

yeh, last ngith news $74.48 per barrel.... show me the petrol.

I did some calc. Government is saying they cant give is huge discounts in petrol price cause the dollar strengthened. BS.

When the oil hit $150 at 7.20 / $ = R1095, now at $75 at R9.20 / $ = R690... that about 37% less, so our petrol price should be about R6.50 / liter
