22-24SEPT-Long Weekend- GTG Boegoeberg 4x4 CANCELLED
We have planned a weekend GTG at Boegoeberg 4x4 trail for September... there website is http://www.boegoeberg4x4.co.za/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
Quite a few of you may be familiar with this trail, as it is very, very popular with 4x4 clubs and drivers... The trail is close to Clanwilliam which means quite a drive, hence a camping weekend....
Because this is a popular place we need to book well in advance and all deposits need to be paid by the 7th September..
Camp Fees are R150 per vehicle per night.... Trail fees are:-
There are 2 trails, if you would like to drive both trails it is R200 for both... if not both, the shorter one is R100, and the longer one R180..
I have provisionally booked for 15 vehicles, so if you really want to go, get your names on the list and if we are more than 15 vehicles, we need to know that before the rest of the campsite gets booked up. Sybrie already has other bookings for that long weekend..
I am amending this post because I have been told that we can definitely not have more than 15 vehicles on the trail on a day because of the difficulty and the trail can take more than 6 hours. So the situation is this.... It is a long weekend, some may be able to arrive on the Friday already and so we could have a group on the Sat and another group on the Sunday to do the 25km trail..
There may be those that want to do the shorter 10km route, or maybe just camp for the long weekend... So please state your preferences behind your name... Only the first 15 names for the 25 km trail for that specific day will be accepted...Eg. 1. (Name) (Day to do the 25km trail ie. Saturday of Sunday) (10km trail) (or just camping with the group for the weekend)
Please check out their website to get more information... The 2011 Drive out 4x4 Trail Guide also has a nice write up about Boegoeberg..

Doesn't matter, if I'm not in some forgotten African country I'll attend any weekend, I've been wanting to go to Boegoe for a very long time now!

I know previously Sybrie had a special that if we are more than 15 vehicles/ couples, then he will do a spitbraai on the house. That was like 2 years ago, I can find out from him if that is still the case.
Boegoeberg is one of my favorite trails and camping sites!

Please do that Pieter... had a chat to him this morning, and he is so accommodating.... He has put aside a section for us that accommodate 20 vehicles and more suitable for a group type setting with all the ablution etc facilities... it is not at the dam site because those are more suitable for single family type campsites...pietpetoors wrote:I know previously Sybrie had a special that if we are more than 15 vehicles/ couples, then he will do a spitbraai on the house. Boegoeberg is one of my favorite trails and camping sites!
So far the few that have voted prefer the long weekend option, and because of the distance it does appear to be the more suitable one, but unfortunately that's your Dad's birthday weekend... and Robertson is in the opposite direction to Clanwilliam for you...
Have heard that it is a very popular trail and campsite...

I phoned Sybrie this morning
He said he does not have the special of the free spit braai anymore.
They still do a spit for 30 or more people at R90.00 per adult, R50 children under 12 and free for pre-school children.
That includes the salads and bykosse

Thanks Pieter, sounds great..... will see later, closer to the date the numbers in the group, and if we have a consensus for a spitbraai..pietpetoors wrote:I phoned Sybrie this morning

Mr B are you guys arriving on the Sat or Friday... If we have enough arriving on the Friday then we can look at a Saturday and a Sunday trail? Think with Monday being a holiday most people will only leave on Monday after a good group brunch...Mr_B wrote:We're in for trail(s) and camping...

Hey guys/gals, things gone a bit stale on this thread, are we all still up for it ?? we need to confirm camping numbers etc as I think we must make a booking at least....appreciate we are still away off from this but apparently this is one great trail and camping facilities....
I know Val is still up north in NAM so I can pick up the event in the meantime whilst she is away and maybe make some provisio numbers for camping and number of vehicles for the trail etc....
cheers Stubster

Yes this is indeed one of the most spectacular trails in the Western Cape. I am busy negotiating with the relevant interested parties to have our prior engagement moved so that we can attend as well.

Re: 22-24SEPT-Long Weekend- GTG Boegoeberg 4x4
Hi Guys,
Phew that has been a long time away but am back from my trip and would like to get the list up and running for this 4x4 weekend.... There are a lot of tbc on the list and as we need to pay deposits by the 7th need only names that will definitely be joining us and will be paying their deposits by 7th into the club account, I will update the list on the first page. I need number of people in the group, number of nights, and trail information. We need at least 10 vehicles to attend the event and secure our booking..
1. Val x1, 3 nights, Full trail = 225 + 200 = 425 dep R220

Hi Val,a while back we spent a few days at Boegoeberg, really a great place. For those hardcore campers theres a site right up in the mountains to camp,a bit of a nasty climb up with the vechicle, but i recomend somebody to take the sight(no small kids there are sharp dropoffs),but really great views.Enjoy the trip Guys and Gals

Hi Val!
Ek sal ongelukkig nie die naweek kan bywoon nie. Het 'n insident gehad met 'n inbreker in die nag 2:40 in die oggend en my bakkie gestamp. So dit sal seker by die panelshop wees dan.
Vilgende keer.
