Just a little question, and I will leave this to the computer boffs. Why do we not set up a skype chat so when we log onto this site we can live chat as a group with our fellow members that have also logged on.
I believe Thys will have the answers for us.
Over to you Thys

Re: Skype
Contrary to popular belief my young friend Andrew, I dont know everything... YET..
I know as much about Skype as you do, i.e. what Google tells us. Cassie is the guy who knows the forum software very well, and he'll be able to tell us more about the compatibility of the forum software and Skype...

Re: Skype
There are some mods available for Skype chat but it's for earlier versions of the forum software. The other problem is that we are running a custom style and not the standard phpbb style and thus the mods is not applicable to our style.
Will have look into it though and see what we can find

Re: Skype
excuse my ignorance ,,,, seems I know even less of this stuff than Thys .....
WHY ?
Whats wrong with what we have ?
More importantly - with the current configuration the chats are recorded for everyone to see. VERY handy when technical tips form part of the "chat". Would Skype also "store" these chats ? and how is this then any different to what we have?
please excuse me, if these questions just confirm that I am clueless with this stuff.

Re: Skype
Very valid point.... Chat rooms could potentially let us loose some data in that we don't keep the dataChrisF wrote:excuse my ignorance ,,,, seems I know even less of this stuff than Thys .....

Re: Skype
Thanks Chris.
I wanted to ask the same question.... WHY?
Me thinks the forum like this works well... but then again... maybe I don't know what I'm missing.

Re: Skype
Don't really see the point either...but what we could do is to add your Skype name to your profile, like we do with ORRA call signs. If you then really want to chat just use Skype as you normally would.
