Hallo all,
I just have to share this with you and would love to hear if this has ever happened with anyone on this forum or if you know of groups who had this miracle
We left on the 21st for Gam Namibia to build a church there with Ds. Henk Olwage the missionary. We had a huge trailer with all the material and equipment to construct the church hooked on the Hilux, no surprise it handled it with not sweat at all
My first concern was the border posts, it is a lot of steel and equipment, not something you can hide, food for 20 people for a week and much more.
Botswana we crossed at Ramotse, no problems, some cheeky comments but we were in and out under 20 minutes, then it was Dobe border post! We managed to get lost a bit that silly CASKA Garmap is not something to be used in the field, much work to be done on this GPS software for Africa! None the less we got to Dobe border post just after 6pm, having it closed at 16:30, the official came with great friendly greetings allowing us to sleep on the border and even make our fire on his office door step, see pics below!
Now here is the best part, the next morning, we got together, started with scripture and the two officials joined us, we had the amazing opportunity to open the border post with scripture and prayer with the officials, is that not just amazing!!!!
Now the best part of this border post, we got to Namibia side, did all the paper work and they send us on our blessed way with not a cent to pay, free entry, no hassel on the bakkie, trailer or material, NO CHARGE just like Jesus love for us!!!!!
Anyway three days later the new church structure was standing and we had much time to spend with the locals and surroundings. Sad story is the busmans we met, people we need support for the SAN people, they busy dying out as they do not understand all the changes, they are hunters and live out of the bush, take that away from them it is like telling a boer he can't braai or drive his Hilux anymore!!!!
Much more top the trip but then I will have to write a book here So feel free to ask questions!

Re: Dobe border - Trip to Gam Namibia
Yip was an amazing trip
No I drive the 3.0 D4D and it did great we did most of the road where possible around 100 to 110km/p/h and got an average of 6.5 km per liter for the trip, so not bad at all. We did just over 3600km.
Even in the rough areas and sand it was no problem deflate the tyres a bit and off we went The guys who helped us with the building and material recons we were pulling at least 3+ tons of material on the trailer
