Not to my knowledge, but I do it anyway as we pass through Zim and Bots....you never know! Don't want to be caught up at any border. Takes 5 mins!

They told us the same story and nobody bothered in asking. When you get there just produce your Passport, drivers and car papers and the form you fill in when you get on their side to fill in.

Re: POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE
What actually happens is that when you produce your vehicle registration papers, the police officer at the border post does a clearance on the vehicle. Just to check that it wasnt reported stolen and that you are in fact the owner. So there is no need for a police clearance certificate.

Re: POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE
Don't suppose it can do any harm to have a current clearance certificate with your vehicle papers. Might even help to speed things along at the border posts. Like Mark said. "Who knows" .....

Re: POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE
Our local cop shop went "all blank" when I asked for a police clearance certificate .... untill they called an older captain. I was then told to go to the police vehicle depot, during working hours - now THIS is problem, thus I just left it and was never asked for it.
Corne some other documents you want to get:-
- travel document from your insurance (your broker arranges this for you),often asked for at the border.
- travel document from your medical aid (just handy if you do need to use medical services while accross the border)
- vehicle registration document, or a letter from the bank if still on HP.

Re: POLICE CLEARANCE CERTIFICATE
Any police station can clear the the vehicle via a sworn affidavit, stamp it and details on there. That what we do.venom38 wrote:Thanks Chris, exactly my problem, I'm out in the bundus and the closest police depot is 60km which basically means a whole morning for me.
