Botswana, the best travel destination on earth!!!!
I don't post often on the hilux forum, since I sold my SFA, but after our trip to Botswana I had to share it with someone........
Me, Shaka and our wives set of from Johannesburg at 3 am and arrived at Parr's halt just after 8 am. No troubles or hassles at the border, everything went smooth.
Then we took a Long drive to Letlakhane where we stopped and got some supplies. The funniest storm hit us on our way to Mopipi where we wanted to overnight. I have never experienced so much rain from the side in my life!!!
The next morning we left for Nxai pans where we spend 2 nights. Great ablutions and a lot of game to see. We planned on crossing the river with the ferry at Khumaga to Nxai, but found an unfortunate Hilux family whose vehicle had fallen off the ferry into the river with their trailer and all their stuff, so the ferry was delayed. We drove around to Nxai pans.
From Nxai we set off to Maun where slept at Audi camp. We took a scenic flight over the Okavango, what an experience!!!!
From Maun we drove to KWAI River and spent 2 nights there. The best place for a relaxing peaceful holiday on earth, I kid you not. Elephants walking about, Impala rams running around and fighting a couple of steps from us. We even spotted two lions hiding in the bushes 50 meters from our campsite.
From Kwai we embarked on a long trip through Mababe gate to Savuti camp, then to Kasane. We drove right through on sandridge road with no hassles except for the bumps...........
At Kasane we camped at Kwalape lodge, and explored the surroundings for two days. Warthogs running in the streets, friendly people are but a few things that are great about Kasane. We visited the Vic Falls, and went on a sunset cruise on the Chobe River, which was the highlight of our trip. If you are ever in Kasane please do not miss out on one of the many sunset cruises on the boats it is really worthwhile.
From Kasane we drove to Nata, and then to Kubu Islands. Spectacular scenes and awesome sunsets awaited us, and although there were a lot of people at Kubu one still had a peaceful and quite evening. The stars, I think were shining brighter to just let us know that we are in paradise.
We drove to Khama Rhino from Kubu and spent our last Night at Khama where the game viewing was great.
From Khama we headed home with hearts full of wonderful memories and big plans to return soon. The beauty of Botswana made me say a prayer almost 10 times a day to say thank you that we are so privilege to experience nature as God intended it to be!!!

Hi ouens
Dis nou vir my en my vrou. (ek het met colt V6 gery,so sy was maar dors ek het so 6.3km/l gekry oor die hele trip.)

So if you did it in reverse would it be less the distance you travelled and less the cost? :evil:Maddoglips wrote:Mark it was as long as from start to finish or if you'd like, double the distance from start to middleGunta wrote:How long was the trip?
