Gearbox G52 4Y 4X4 - Cape Town
Hi, Anybody recommend a place to fix 4Y gearbox in Cape Town. Not broken but making some noise that my boet reckons points to a potential failure sometime. Bit noisy in 1-3 and 5. Else can anyone recommend doing it oneself? Also anybody got the manual on the gearbox for a Hilux 88 4y 4x4 Box - presu...

4Y Nikkei Carb - Petrol pouring down into Carb
:surrender: Hi, Hilux 88 2.2 Petrol fully original. I had my manifold and gasket replaced (put a branch and threw out heater design) and when they put the carb back it was not functioning properly. Apparantly the petrol is pouring into the carb. And the experienced Toyota mechanic is stumped. He has...

Re: Extended Toyota Warranty
I investigated extended warranty when I owned later model Hilux and found that the coverage is limited e.g. will only cover R5000 on gearbox, R5000 on turbo etc so you will still have to hoes if something major goes wrong. I prefer the older vehicles... you not handcuffed to the agents for repairs a...

Re: Mechanic/Workshop in Cape Town
Hoppy is quite accommodating in terms of when you pick up / drop off - you can arrange for a time in the evening if that makes it easier. Otherwise the Brackenfell train station is within walking distance if you need to get into town - I've used that option before. Thanks the train might help.... A...
