In my experience attempts to fix cracks and nasty scratches on a dashboard only end in disaster as the end result lands up look worse than the original scratch! My v6 bakkie also had the resonance noise after the decat. I took it back and Roddy fitted 2 small silencers, one on each bank of the engine. Resonance gone, and she still sounds great!

In gear my 2007 V6 idles happily at 550-600rpm(I never seen the oil light!). In nuetral/park the idle speed climbs to 850-900rpm. I think there's a difference between the auto and manual transmission versions.

Well, let's be total honest... in town my 2007 V6 does around 5.5 to 6km/l... very dependant on right foot mood. On the open road I get 7.3 at 130km/h and slightly better at 120km/h.

Just one question... is it not possible to fit fender flares? I can imagine the front bumper won't align properly? But i do like the way they protect the body work from nick and scratches from flying stones.

I was at Francois' workshop(4xLux) the other day, he was busy with a dual batt system on a new Hilux... the canopy on the back was flippin awesome. Probably the best I've seen. Give him a call and find out what make it was.

The problem is not the sludge that you can see, but rather that thats accumulated in all the oil channels, oil filter and pump. I'd recommend not using an engine flush first in this case. A cone filter has no place on a vehicle used offroad... it's only good enough to filter out stones, large bugs and small birds... don't put one on your 4x4... unless you plan on doing street dragging!

Could be based on the oil being thicker when the engine is cold at start-up, therefore takes a minute or two to flow to and pressurise the lifters properly.
Of course the colder weather(colder oil) at this time of year would also make the noise more prominent.

B, Any relay with a 220V coil can work, provided it has normally closed contacts, i.e when energised the contacts are open circuit and when the power fails contacts are closed. If the unit is out of guarantee then another repair option is Danie at Fastners Warehouse in Brackenfell. He repairs a large variety of fridges... their premises is 3 shops down from Goeie Hoop Onderdele... which is down the road from the 4x4Direct shop... which is a major problem!

I note that Rusti has a 22R 2.4L... EFi would definitely be the way to go, but the fuel injection manifolds for that motor are pretty scarce.
I driven a 2.4 with EFi... all I can say is it's flipping nice... worth hunting for the parts required!

The V6 is not the quietest engine, that's for sure. In my experience the lifters are a bit noisy, but the main culprit are the injectors combined with tinny exhaust manifolds. Also check for cracks or tracking marks in the distributor cap. Both of these can cause misfiring on the electrodes and cause backfiring under engine compression.
