While changing the diff oil today on both diffs I spied oil on the back wheel rim. Right side side shaft seal this time. Good thing I remembered this old post, stripped and ready now. Just need to get a new seal on Monday. Anybody got a part number on hand?

Hmmm, news is its still running after 4years with no problems. Great not having to adjust points again. Motor runs smoother than with points, but otherwise no real difference.

So, this weekend I ended up dumping the Lux in the river after slipping off the bank on the clay while riding parallel to it. Luckily I managed to point the nose inland first... There was no way to recover it with the other Hilux single cab we had with us because of the 30m or so uneven river bank, ...

Trevor, a got the pulleys like that on the engine. the two accessory pulleys bolt on to the main
crankshaft pulley.

From what I can remember the diesel Hilux's were 4.52:1. I'm running the standard 4.88:1 diff's for the petrol model with 33"s. Fuel consumption overall is 5 km/liter, less doing a bit of harder offroad fun... I don't drive it everyday, so i can live with that. Downside is 220km max on a tank o...

You need to skim a groove in the FLYWHEEL. I remember now, to clear the rivets on the clutch plate.

The power sterring pump will fit. It is mounted to the engine where the mechanical fuel pump mounts. (you need electric pump if you go this way).

I'm running a Hilux 3 core (2.4D) radiator (copper not alu) with my V6. Using a Nissan 9 blade fan fixed without viscous coupling. 5km/L
no overheating, EVER :)

It cost me 17k to convert to the V6 4 years ago. That included reconditioning a free motor I got, and doing the install myself at home. I had a similar issue. Your detent spring may be weak from old age. Remove the high/low range shift rod detent plug from the 4WD transfer case section of the gearbox (passenger side). You'll see it has an allen key hex head plug. Magnatise a screw driver and use that to draw the detent spring out of...

I take it these are 16" ?

Then you can use either radial General SAG 7.50 R 16, or the slightly more agressive looking SAG 7.50 16 crossply. Depends on your application, but both have high puncture resistance. With a split rim you will need a tube though.

If you are compensating for the ride height sag with air springs then you are correct, your rear braking will not increase with load. I improved mine a bit by extending the linkage on the axle to compensate for the increased ride height of the OME springs. http://www.hilux4x4.co.za/views/viewtopic.p...

I have the same problem, nobody carries the solid cam followers or rockers. I learnt to live with it.

The manifolds I have are different left and right. The drivers side one runs straight back parallel to the cylinder head. The passenger side manifold runs parallel to the cylinder head for cylinders 4 and 5, then drops down at cylinder 6. Ford V6 stripped parts.JPG I am sot sure if these are Cortina...
