Re: Fortuner Towbar
So vinnige feedback.

Re: Clear back windows?
Yip,
The sales people call it privacy glass, most modern suv's come standard with it. (see xc90, x5, prado etc)
If it's for estetics, why not smash and grab the front two one's as well, then you'll get a more uniform look.... :D

Re: Driving with cruisecontrol

Driving with cruisecontrol
Ek gaan hierdie ene in my beste ingels probeer... Found something interesting this past weekend. Driving up to Musina had cruisecontrol on aprox 120km on speedo. Had the autobox kickback to 3rd at some stages. (very irretating) consumtion on one tank was 510km and 62.4l fillup. Driving back had the ...

Re: 3.0 D-4d Auto vs Manual Fortuner
Sorry Wildwill, we drifted off on your thread.... As far as I know the auto box on the diesel is only a 4-speed, which may be a good or bad thing. If the gearing is "long" gears, it may be a pleasure to drive, but having a 5th gear as overdrive helps with fuel consumption. On last thing on...

Re: 3.0 D-4d Auto vs Manual Fortuner
Agree with Bloues. Turbo causes the comprssion ratio to be very, putting the engine under strain.
One day over a long cold one I will tell you the reason for the "bad" diesel we have in SA...

Hennie,

I do sincerely appologise!!
After quick browse last night, I saw that my fuel consumption was not as "rosy" as I thought it be.
But judge for yourself.

Re: Fortuner Towbar
Warthog, have a look on www.frontrunner.co.za and look under towbars/assecories. I think it will look the same as the RV on (thanks OOOOMS) see http://www.fourwd.co.za/default.aspx?pageID=5380 Uys, ek dink ek het al 'n pic gesien van joune, maar kan jy ons in die regte rigting wys. Re: Fortuner Towbar
The one you see fitted to most of the fortuners, looks like a halfrounded step behind bumper. If you look at the back of the vehicle, in relation to the tupper bumper, the "step" seems skew. Don't know, but the towbar seems flimsy... OOOMS, what does the heavy duty one looks like, and doe ...

Fortuner Towbar
Started doing my homework on new towbar. I need something strong enough to recover/tow from, and to protect vunerable back bits. I also want to keep the option open to later fit a long range tank. Options so far: 1) Toyota fitted - Around R3 000, most fitted but have seen some skew ones. 2) Frontrun...

Re: 3.0 D-4d Auto vs Manual Fortuner
Keep in mind that 600km is on the open road, keeping 120km/h. If you drive civilised and not very agressive, I think it is easily achivable. But don't take my word for it. Try get your hands on one (like your brothers) and drive a tank or two. As long as you don't redline it constantly, or excelarat...

Re: 3.0 D-4d Auto vs Manual Fortuner
Wildwill I forgot about this If you have a look at the sicker on the windscreen (left corner) you will see fuel indication on diff models (mine still have that sticker) The v6 4x4 Auto is the best of all the prefacelift v6 as far as fuelconsumption is concern. In all fairness, I use the corrolla for...

Rather get the V6 Auto   V6 not an option...I pay for my own petrol  I have the v6 Auto and if I drive normal, I get 500km+ on 60l in city traffic and 600km+on 60l open road. On open road I lock the cruise control on 120kph and use A/C as and when I feel like it.... And...

Re: Cleaning Fortuner Leather Upholstery
I think we all agree that the light cream tan colour of the earlier Fortuner upholstery is a sin. Does anyone have any handy tips on how to clean the leather without causing it to loose quality? I have been using the old "cloth-and-soap" routine, and then nourishing the leather with a BMW...
